I Like DVD Commentaries

Especially when cast members are included. Kevin Smith films are the best example, usually six or seven people, watching the feature, clustered around mikes and eating something.

But the one thing that has come to annoy me, though maybe some consider it insightful, is the tendency of the people to note the first day of shooting.

"I think we shot this on the first day."
"Yeah I think you're right."
"Definitely, in fact this was the first thing we shot."

Aside from the few people who think a film is shot in the order it is screened, does this usually tell us much of anything?
