Christmas Gift...

Citizen Kane DVD set. The film itself stands on its own merits, of course, and is a good enough reason to have the DVD. But the print and transfer is stellar, I must say. Every film student who ever watched murky, muddy VHS tapes in a class needs to see this DVD. The picture is truly outstanding. Coupled with the film is the excellent PBS "American Experience" documentary "The Battle Over Citizen Kane," which I have seen previously and would have likely wanted if it were available solo. I look forward to listening to the commentary track by Peter Bogdonovitch on the Kane DVD.
