The holidays are out to kill me...

When the FedEx guy gets here with the early-morning delivery, there will be plenty of activity, but for now it is hurry-up-and-wait time. Last night we went to Darcy's quasi-official office holiday party. Last month they had their 50th anniversary party, so this party was arranged close to the holidays, but not extravagantly. It was at a nicely expensive restaurant, but we had to pay for all of our own stuff. And it wasn't even very good stuff. It was called the Chart House, and it was 15 miles south of where we live. It looked like some lunatic wedding, white fluff and holiday lights everywhere...

I also loved paying $3 each cover charge for the house band. :| They were a lounge act all the way, sining "Jingle Bell Rock," "Love Will Keep Us Together," "I Will Survive," "Believe"(Cher), and even "Baby One More Time." The singer played it up lounge-style lo-tech. She did "echo effects" by turning her head slightly away from the mic and repeating the desired words several times.

At least we had wine to go with all the cheez...

Do any of you work with someone who is also either a regular at a forum or a LJ user? It is odd, because you end up having little snippets of conversation which might seem to imply a telepathic bond to others around you. Also, if you respond IRL to an online question, you still feel compelled to answer it a second time online, so as to satisfy the lurkers listening in...
