I started out my 30th year on the planet sleeping in a bit again. Then, I watched a LaserDisc of Star Wars (Episode 4, if you want to be that way, "A New Hope," if you really want to be that way...) and had a breakfast of red cake. Then, as mentioned earlier, I went shopping.
At Best Buy, I got three things, and wound up spending only $12 or so of my own money on top of the gift card. I got "Waking Life" and "The Man Who Wasn't There" on DVD, and the new Gomez CD "In Our Gun."
At Gander Mountain, I also got three things, this time spending around $16 of my own money beyond the gift card. There I purchased a new tent (a "backpacker's" tent which ought to fit me nicely but pack very small), a "floor-saver" tarp to put under the tent, and a roll-up foam pad to sleep on, because I can sleep on nearly anything, and I've found that most inflatable pads are a pain in the ass, figuratively speaking.
Tonight, I sat down and watched "The Man Who Wasn't There" with Travis and his girl. I had seen it in the theatres, and Travis said he liked it a lot. His girl slept through most of it, but she had had quite a long day in some manner of church-related activity. Afterward, they went to sleep, and I took a walk in the neighborhood. At times it was nearly totally silent and still out there. I liked it a lot.
